Description: 

To participate in the contest you need to post one or multiple blog posts on existing consumer applications or application ideas that have the potential to appeal to an India user. Bloggers with the most popular blogs will be eligible for prizes and exclusive invitations to Intel events and Intel sponsored events in India.  

To be eligible for the contest every blog post needs to include the content provided here: “Check out the Intel Atom Developer Program, if you are looking for an opportunity to build and monetize your applications. You can sell through Intel’s storefront – Intel AppUp Center. Intel has also set up a Million Dollar Development Fund to support developers who are looking at building innovate apps. For more details check out http://appdeveloper.intel.com/fund  

Also the blog should include a disclaimer that clearly states that the blog post is an entry to Intel’s contest – My India App Story  
 

Eligibility:  

The 'My India App Story' contest is open to all tech bloggers, tech enthusiasts and tech tweeps who like to blog and tweet about technology in general. You must be aged 18 years or over or you must obtain the consent of your parents or legal guardian before you participate in the 'My India App Story'  

The 'My India App Story' contest is open only to residents of India. All national and local laws and regulations of the resident's state of residence apply.  

How do I enter?   

Please submit your blog entry to the contest at www.myindiaappstory.com You can submit multiple blog entries and get credit for all your blog entries by tagging your blog entries to one unique email address. 

  1. You will have the option to post one or multiple blog posts during the contest period of SIX weeks: 4th August 2010 9am IST – 17th September 2010 5pm IST. To be eligible each blog post needs to address one of the below mentioned topics in about 500-1000 words. Besides text you can also post video reviews, photos and screenshots etc.

    a. Review an existing consumer application: Blog about an existing consumer app that appeals to the Indian user, it’s relevance to the Indian users and how it adds value to the users’ life or work.

    b. Discuss a new consumer app idea (may or may not be an existing app): Write about a consumer app idea or concept that you think would be valuable for an Indian user.

    c. Review consumer applications in a specific category: You can also choose to focus on an app category and review multiple apps that belong to the chosen category. E.g. Education, Entertainment, Sports, Business, News, Music, Games or Social Media can be the chosen as a category. The category and the apps reviewed need to be of relevance to the Indian user.

    d. My Dream Apps - 3 things I want an App for.

  1. To qualify for the contest, the you have to include in each blog a specific note provided here:

  1. Once the blog is active, you will have to create a bit.ly link and submit the blog entry through your contest account which was created at the link www.myindiaappstory.com Every time you want to enter a new blog post into the contest, please create a bit.ly link and add it to your account.
  2. You can continue to promote your blogs for two weeks post the closure of the contest for entries on 18th Sept 2010 5pm IST. You can continue to promote your contest during 18th Sept 2010 5pm IST and Oct 4th 5pm IST.
  3. The winners will be selected based on the below criteria by a panel of judges from Intel based on the data available on Oct 4th 2010 5pm IST

    a. Quality of the blog posts and the relevance of the apps shared in the blog posts

    b. Number of blog posts submitted to the contest

      c. Number of click throughs registered on the bit.ly links submitted to the contest

      d. Quality and number of external comments which lead to further discussions  on the blog posts.  

Prizes: 

The top 3 winners will each get a Netbook machine with Intel® Atom™ processor N450; 1GB DDR2 memory; 6-cell lithium-ion battery; 10.1" widescreen; 250GB hard drive or comparable machine available locally up to $500 USD value and free passes to attend Select Intel Events and Events sponsored by Intel in India. 

Contest Timeline

Bit.ly links to all your blog posts need to be submitted between 4th August 2010 – 17th  Sept 2010 to be eligible for the contest. The bloggers can continue to promote their blog between 18th Sept 2010 5pm IST to Oct 4th 5pm IST. Winners will be chosen by the panel of Intel judges based on the data available on Oct 4th 5pm IST. The winners will be announced on or around Oct 18th 2010. 

Contest Rules

  • These rules (including the Intel Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use)govern the My India App Story Contest (the “contest”) and set out the terms and conditions between Intel Corporation and its affiliates (“Intel” or “us/we”) and each participant (“participant” or “you”).
  • To participate you will need to create an account at www.myindiaappstory.com  and register for the contest.
  • You must speak, read and understand English and you must be aged 18 years or over or you must obtain the consent of your parents or legal guardian before you participate in the contest. If you apply to register for the contest, if you contribute to the contest or the Intel® Software Network community once you are registered or if you accept any contest prizes, you accept these rules.
  • Employees of Intel Corporation, its affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies, and the immediate families of each may not enter. This limitation is void where prohibited.
  • We may refuse your contribution for any good reason.
  • You agree to make your blogs eligible for the “My India App Story” contest under the following conditions: Intel does not claim ownership of your blog posts to the contest in form of sample code, content, videos, articles or any other materials you make eligible for “My India App Story” contest (“Contributions”). By create a bit.ly link to your blog post(s),, you are granting Intel and its affiliated companies the following worldwide, non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, unconditional, fully paid-up rights:
    • To use, copy, reproduce, modify, and create derivative works ofthe Contributions,
    • To publicly perform or display, import, broadcast, transmit, distribute (directly and indirectly through multiple tiers), license, offer to sell and sell, rent, lease, or lend copies of the Contributions (and derivative works thereof),
    • To sublicense to third parties the foregoing rights, including the right to sublicense to further third parties, and
    • To publish your name or alias in connection with this contest and your Contributions.
    • Your Contributions to the contest will be available to other participants and to ensure they are safe and freely usable by other participants, you warrant that:
    • You own or otherwise have all rights necessary for you to provide the Contributions and grant the rights described above and you do not disclose any information which would constitute a violation of a confidentiality obligation.
    • Your Contributions do not contain any viruses, worms, spy ware, or other components or instructions that are malicious, deceptive, or designed to limit or harm the functionality of a computer; and
    • Your Contributions are not subject to license terms that require any software or documentation incorporating or being derived from your Contributions to be licensed to others.
  • Apart from prizes offered as part of the contest, no monetary compensation will be paid for any of your contest Contributions.
  • Intel is not responsible for contest entries not received due to lost, failed, delayed or interrupted connections or miscommunications, or other electronic malfunctions. Intel is not responsible for incorrect or inaccurate entry information, whether caused by you or any other persons or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the contest.
  • The contestant would be solely responsible for the tax liability on prizes / awards. You may be required to sign and return releases of liability, declarations of eligibility, and where lawful, publicity consent agreements, within five (5) days of acknowledged notification. If a selected potential winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible (under these rules or due to a failure to comply with any of the other applicable policies, licenses, rules, and terms of service, fails to claim a prize, or fails to timely return the completed and executed releases/agreements as required), prize may be forfeited and an alternate potential winner may, at Intel’s discretion, be selected. Physical prizes awarded for the winning Contributions will be sent to participants within six (6) weeks from the date of the notification email or confirmation of the winning participant’s physical address, whichever is later.
  • Prizes are personal to the participant submitting the winning contribution and cannot normally be transferred. All prizes are subject to availability and they may change at any time. Intel may award substitute prizes of equal or greater value. A cash alternative is not available. The winner accepts responsibility for all federal, state and local taxes and fees in connection with the prizes. This contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law, and subject to applicable federal, state provincial and local laws.
  • Intel does not provide any warranty on the prizes. To the fullest extent allowable by law, Intel specifically disclaims any representations or warranties, express or implied, regarding the prizes, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose and implied warranties arising from course of dealing or course of performance.
  • We may, on notifying you, immediately suspend or terminate your rights, if you breach these rules or if we reasonably believe that you have submitted a contribution in violation of these rules.
  • You can withdraw your contribution at any time by notifying us. If a contribution is withdrawn your rights to win a prize in this contest are lost.
  • These rules apply to your contribution and the resources, unless we provide any items to you under more specific terms, in which case those more specific terms will apply to the relevant items. We may make changes to these rules at any time without notice to you. The most current version of the rules can be reviewed on the www.myindiaappstory.com  website. Contributing to the contest or accepting prizes will constitute acceptance of the revised rules.
  • Our only responsibilities with respect to the 'My India App Story’ Contest are set out in these rules which are subject to the laws of Delaware, United States of America. These Rules prevail in the event of any conflict or inconsistency with any other communications, including advertising or promotional materials.
  • These rules apply to the 'My India App Story' contest unless we provide any items to you under more specific terms, in which case those more specific terms will apply to the relevant items. We may make changes to these rules at any time without notice to you. We may suspend or terminate the contest but will give as much notice as we reasonably can before we do so.
  • If Intel improperly denies you any prizes, Intel's entire liability and your sole and exclusive remedy will be limited to a distribution of the equivalent amount of prizes as set forth above. By participating in the contest, you waive any and all rights to bring any claim or action related to such matters in any forum beyond one (1) year after the first occurrence of the kind of act, event, condition or omission upon which the claim or action is based.
  • If for any reason this contest is not capable of running as planned due to infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Intel which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this contest, Intel reserves the right at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry or voting process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the contest.
  • Intel assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of entries. Intel is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or telephone lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by Intel on account of technical problems, human error or traffic congestion on the internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participant's or any other person's computer relating to or resulting from participation in this contest or downloading any materials in this contest.
